Shanet
Shanet edifies youth and adults through art, cultural dialogue, and education. For adults, it holds painting exhibitions, musical concerts, poetry readings, and health-related seminars. At these events, socializing takes place in an atmosphere that encourages deep and long-lasting connections. For young people, the Shanet Club encourages natural curiosity and wholesome friendships. Children are able to learn in a way that goes beyond just being able to provide acceptable answers on tests.

Art and beauty are instrumental in achieving Shanet’s goals. In each of our events we foster an atmosphere in part by including art work. We promote painters, sculptors, and others. We present talent and connect generations. Shanet promotes dialogue between cultures in the usual sense, but also in a broader sense. Indonesia and America have different cultures, as do immigrants and the people in the countries they immigrate to. But so do men and women, the working and professional classes, the older and younger generations, and so on. Cultural dialogue is the key to solving many problems. We all have our expectations and points of view. When we want to live in peace with others, cultural dialogue allows us to learn—little by little—how we are different and how to reconcile any conflicts. The founder has an especial familiarity with the Eastern European world in general and Russian Jewish culture in particular.
